The Arab Institute for Holocaust Research and Education in Nazareth1 is directed by advocate Khaled Kasab Mahameed. I met him on the internet and found some stimulating suggestions. German politicians should go to the refugee camps with pictures and texts and explain the genocide of the Jews to the Palestinians, Mahameed says, this is more meaningful than sending submarines to Israel. While hosting international visitors and responding to media requests he found the time for this extensive dialog which is presented here trilingually in five questions and answers plus six photos. يوناتان يَبِيْنْ : تفكك حضاري بَقِيْنَا مع القشور الفساد تفشى في كل مكان, سلطة القانون انهارت, كل يعمل وفقا لرغباته وكل شيء قابل للخطف والالتهام. صخرة وجودنا تثقل على أكتافنا, ورؤوسنا مطأطأة, الفقر والضائقة قوية وفي تصعيد وحضارتنا الاكليكتية تنحصر بدلا من أن تحتفل بغناها عتنوعها عبالإضافة لكل المصاعب : أغلقوا في وجع اللغوي نوعم حومسكي باب البلاد وبعدها بقليل ألغى الموسيقي البيس كوستيلو وصوله للبلاد لاسباب سياسية. لكثير من الاسرائيليين كانت هذه القشة التي كسرت ظهر الجمل وكثير منهم قالوا ما في قلوبهم هذا هو نحن سنهجر البلاد.... ...حتى لو تصورنا بأن حضارتنا غنية لكنها ليست كذلك. ضيقة هي كخرف إبرة في الوقت الذي يجب علبها أن تكون واسعة كمجرة في الكون. صحيح بأنهم يترجمون كتابنا لعدد كبير من اللغات, لكن حاولوا أن تجدوا ابداعاً اسرائيليا واحداً لا علاقة له (كالمتوقع) بالهولوكوست أو للصراع الإقليمي (نفس الأمر يسود حول العمل السينمائي) – دائما مرغوبا فيه من زوايا جَلد الذات... ...الحقيقة المرة هي بأن ثقافتنا مريضة وفارغة. لدينا وجه حضارة مثل ما يكون للرغيف الفرنسي ابن يومين وجه رغيف. يديعوت أحرونوت 23-05-2010 ص 21

Funnily enough, the only individual uninvited from the conference was an Israeli Arab lawyer, Khaled Kasab Mahameed, the founder of the Arab Institute for Holocaust Research and Education. Mahameed was the only speaker at the conference who proposed to tell his listeners that the Holocaust was a historical fact, and that claims that it did not take place were academically unsound. Holocaust deniers who loudly proclaim that their rights to free speech are being eroded by Western governments were strangely unwilling to lobby President Ahmadinejad to have Mr Mahameed’s invitation renewed.
